The Heart Ball 2015
This month we had the distinct pleasure of taking part in the 42nd annual Heart Gala—a formal dinner, dance, and fundraiser at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center—put on by the American Heart Association, designed by Amos Gott of Amos Events, and catered by yours truly, Flavor Catering.
The evening kicked off with a cocktail reception in the main lobby, featuring herb and cheese gougère bites with lobster salad and micro greens and a beef and manchego canapé with fresh chimichurri. A plated dinner for 500 followed—a three course meal consisting of winter salad with candied pecans, feta, and raspberries, a dual entrée of petite filet with pan jus and pan seared grouper with lemon, olive oil, and capers, accompanied by roasted root vegetables and sautéed spinach. The meal was finished with a dark chocolate pot de crème with salted caramel and Walker Creek toffee crumble.
An auction followed, dancing and revelry and fun ensued, but most importantly, both money and awareness was raised—all in all, we declare that the night was a huge success!

Our Summer Photo Album
Once, there was a time when summer seemed like nothing but lazy, long days. But if your summer has been anything like ours, “busy” is the operative word. May, June, July, August: they have all passed in a flash, and now we are knocking on September’s door.
But busy certainly does not mean boring, and our crop of events has been as varied as it is interesting. We helped the new crop of Vandy grads celebrate their success; we threw a block party with our Pie Town neighbors; we got to watch an incredible new venue come to fruition, and take part in their inaugural event season; and if we weren’t at a wedding every Saturday, we were out at Fontanel or the Americana Music Fest listening to (and feeding, of course) Dwight Yoakam, Ray LaMontagne and John Hiatt. We also have made a lot of new friends, and helped host some incredible events with some incredible companies, including Microsoft, The Food Network, ASAE, The Discovery Channel, and Rolling Stone Magazine…you know, just to name a few! The summer has truly been incredible, and fun to boot.

Month in Review: April
Brides and bands and…food trucks, oh my!
We kicked off this April with a plated wedding at Cannery Ballroom for newlyweds Maia and Brian. The guests dined on beef tenderloin wrapped in Benton’s bacon and stuffed with Stilton bleu cheese, white cheddar and rosemary potatoes au gratin, and a medley of mixed seasonal vegetables. Wedding Season continued throughout the month, with weddings at two of Nashville’s most significant (and beautiful) landmarks, The Parthenon and War Memorial Auditorium.
Business as usual continued here in Music City, USA: our backstage adventures ranged from seeing Weezer’s back to back sold out shows at the Ryman to watching Tom Jones swoon the ladies at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. The Robert Cray Band and living legend B.B. King also played at the Schermerhorn, and our good friends at tsp. pie and comfort debuted their phenomenal tea pies at the Ryman’s Rob Thomas concert. We also had the opportunity to live a bit of that high fashion lifestyle at the Symphony Fashion Show, featuring designer Christian Siriano and a performance by The Band Perry.
April also presented us with the chance to honor some people truly worth honoring. Lipscomb University held a reception to recognize their Academic Honors Students at the historic Longview Mansion, and Caterpillar treated their administrative staff to a luncheon of marinated and grilled salmon with mango-cilantro salsa, basmati rice with fresh herbs, and sauteed green beans with caramelized red onions.
And perhaps the most exciting part of April 2014? Well, you know. . . the food truck! Flavor Catering and Special Occasions has officially expanded it’s business to include our mobile food truck services. This month we made appearances at both local brewery Tennessee Brew Works, as well as the Montgomery Bell Academy Endada Arts Festival. We served up our signature Hot Chicken Tacos with homemade pickles and jalapeno slaw, Mexican Rice, white beans with chorizo, and hot water cornbread. We are honestly so excited for this fun addition to our company, and can’t wait to roll into an event near you! So stay tuned!
